A little bit about me... My favorite color is orange :)
Teaching is my passion!
I didn't always know that though. I wanted to be a star and had the chops to do it, but God, life, destiny, had a different plan...
I attended the High School for Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, TX and went on to receive my bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance with an emphasis in Commercial Styles from Belmont University in Nashville, TN. Upon graduating from college, I entered the real world with no idea what I was going to do. I took a few jobs over the next several years, doing bookkeeping and managerial work, while singing and performing at night and on the weekends. Needless to say, I was burning the candle at both ends, so I began looking for a change. I always loved working with kids and had been teaching private voice lessons as well as a weekly fifth grade choir for about two years when I decided to approach a high school that had just opened in my neighborhood. I inquired about their music program, submitted my resume, interviewed, and was hired to teach one choir class daily.
I got the bug, the teaching bug that is. Seeing students grow, learn, understand and achieve was awesome, truly satisfying. I was hired full time at Mount Carmel Academy and have completed my Standard Texas Teaching Certificate in 3 content areas, EC-12 Spanish, EC-12 Music and EC-12 Theater.
I now teach Spanish 1, Choral Arts, and Theater Arts at Mount Carmel Academy and love every minute.
I am also the mother of two beautiful daughters, Ember and Eden, as well as many pets (1 dog, 2 cats, and a turtle). My hobbies include cooking, swimming, singing, playing guitar, reading, and doing puzzles & crafts.
